  • Our Active Shooter Training at a Glance:

Over the last decade we've carefully distilled the complex topic of active shooter readiness into four simple components, each serving as a integral element in safeguarding lives:

  • I. Prepare:

Effective preparation is the cornerstone of any active shooter response plan. Yet, it's often underestimated or ignored.  Our active shooter readiness programs empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to proactively prevent these situations where possible and respond decisively if they occur.  Concepts such as situational awareness, recognizing indicator behaviors, normalcy bias and active planning are integral to being prepared for an active assailant in any environment.

  • II. Escape

Escaping may seem straightforward, but it's a nuanced art influenced by various factors.  We teach you how to assess the situation, considering factors like the weapon type, threat proximity, environmental conditions, available cover, and more. Escaping isn't just about fleeing; it's about making the best, simple decisions en rout to safety.

  • III. Hide

When escape is not an immediate option, knowing how to effectively barricade your location can be a lifesaver.  Hiding under a desk isn't a plan, whereas barricading is a learned physical skill best attained before a critical event takes place.  We'll teach you "planned barricading" using prearranged furniture in familiar spaces as well as "improvised barricading" techniques to use when you find yourself in a space that is unfamiliar and/or does not have sufficient furniture.

  • III. Defend

While facing an active shooter might seem daunting, there are strategies to gain the upper hand in any critical event.  Thanks to this comprehensive segment, whether you're an individual or part of a coordinated team, you'll learn to strategically ambush and subdue the assailant using everyday objects as improvised weapons.  You'll also learn safe and effective techniques for disabling firearms under high-stress conditions.  Lastly, we provide guidance on how to respond in those critical moments once law enforcement arrives.

At Trident Shield, we believe in empowering individuals with the skills and mindset necessary to prevent and respond effectively to violent events.  Our training programs provide actionable, real-world strategies that can be applied to any environment, ensuring you and your team are prepared for any violent event.
